Shri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji
His Holiness Shri Shri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji of Jagadguru Sri Madhwaachaarya Moola Mahaa Samsthaanam, Shri Puthige Matha, Udupi, India, was anointed at the age of 12 as the 30th Pontiff. Shri Swamiji has undertaken Vedic studies for more than 12 years under the great seer Shri Vidyamanya Theertha Swamiji of Shri Palimaru Matha, Udupi.

Shri Puthige Matha is one among the eight Mathas that was established by Shri Madhwacharaya to perform the rituals to Lord Shri Krishna at Shri Krishna Matha, Udupi and also to propagate Dwaitha philosophy. The main branch of Shri Matha is located in a village called Puthige, which is about 20 Kms away from Udupi and hence derives its name. Every Mathas gets an opportunity to manage the activities of Shri Krishna Matha and to perform rituals to Lord Shri Krishna for a term of two consecutive years. Shri Puthige Matha takes charge of management for every fourth term.
